When people say “I don’t ever get sad when celebrities die … it’s not like I KNEW them or anything,” what they are really saying is “I am a sociopath … I lack the ability to feel empathy. Please adjust your opinion of me accordingly.”

When people post jokes on Facebook about dead actors, singers, and DJs mere minutes after the news of those deaths comes out, or post jokes about tiny women being beaten by their huge football player boyfriends, or post jokes about women being murdered and having their bodies stuffed in walls, what they are really saying is “Hey, from now on, please think of me as an unfunny asshole.”
